Louisiana supports math educators through state-adopted professional development (PD) and a state-approved list of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). To deepen impact, the state could require math PD for all K-8 educators and mandate districts to adopt HQIM.

To become proficient in math, students need to develop mathematical proficiency which is a combination of real-world problem-solving skills, procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, and productive dispositions.
